This policy explains what information the Charlton Live mobile app collects, why, and your choices. It is written to comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are. The Charlton Live app is provided by Charlton Live ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@charltonlive.uk.
When you first open the app, it generates a random identifier and stores it on your device. This is not your phone's hardware ID or advertising ID — it's created by the app. We use it to count each device's player ratings once, to target and remove push notifications, and to let you delete your data.
If you opt in to notifications, your device is issued a push token by Apple/Google, which we store so we can deliver alerts (live shows, new episodes, ratings windows). If you never enable notifications, no token is collected. You can turn them off any time in Settings.
The ratings you give players are stored against your app-generated device ID and aggregated into the average scores shown in the app.
When the app contacts our servers, your IP address is processed transiently to deliver the response and prevent abuse. We store only a one-way hashed form of it, not your raw IP address.
We do not collect: your name, email, phone, postal address, location, contacts, photos, health data, or any advertising identifier. We run no analytics and no third-party trackers.
When you play or watch content in the app, requests are made to the relevant provider (YouTube for live shows, Acast for podcast episodes), who handle that under their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
Our processors (e.g. Google, Cloudflare) may process data on servers outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent mechanisms.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your data, and to data portability.
The app is general-audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. We store only the minimal data described above and never your raw IP or any directly identifying details.
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, note it in the app.
